The 2022-2023 NSF CyBR-MSI: PDW is a five-part virtual proposal development workshop that is designed to prepare researchers to develop and submit proposals for the 2023 NSF CISE-MSI Program Solicitation (NSF 22-518). The workshop enhances participants’ understanding of strategies for developing more effective proposals.

Throughout the workshop, researchers gain critical knowledge and tools for preparing a grant proposal to the CISE-MSI program, including information on crafting impactful Project Summaries and Project Descriptions, persuasively describing Intellectual Merit and Broader Impacts criteria; composing budgets and budget justifications; and strategies for effective proposal preparation.

This workshop takes place in five (5) four-hour-long sessions. This is an interactive workshop featuring mentoring from senior researchers with a successful track record of proposing and implementing NSF awards.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand NSF Merit Review criteria and how they are applied to proposals for NSF CISE Core Programs
  2. Prepare a Project Summary and Project Description to submit to the CISE-MSI program, informed by competitive proposal elements and the NSF CISE Merit Review Criteria
  3. Understand the panel review process for evaluating proposals
